IoT or the Internet of Things refers to physical objects that are embedded with communication technology that connect and exchange data over the internet. In the automotive context IoT is actually made up of two environments. One is internal and connects various sensors and subsystems to the main onboard computer. While the other refers to the connected vehicle as a whole (sometimes called V2X) and communicates with sensors in other vehicles, in the infrastructure, in mobile and in other devices.
